Rohnert Park began as one of California's early planned cities and became a city in 1962, and most of its homes were built over the following few decades. That means whole neighborhoods of homes built around the same time, often with the same style of gutters, and many of those gutters are wearing out together. Walk through almost any lettered section east of the freeway and you'll see the pattern: long, low ranch rooflines, sectional gutters with a seam every 10 feet, and downspouts that empty onto flat ground. The land here is level, so water doesn't run off on its own once it leaves the downspout. It pools, soaks into the clay and works its way toward the foundation. From the street, the giveaway is a row of seams along the front and a single downspout at each corner.

We replace tired sectional gutters with seamless ones, add guards and fix leaks all over Rohnert Park, from the sections near Sonoma State to the homes along the creeks. Our seamless gutter installation page explains how new gutters are formed right in your driveway. If the bigger problem is where the water lands, our downspouts and drainage work is built for exactly that. The estimate is free, and we'll walk the whole roofline with you before quoting.

Replacing Original Gutters on Long, Low Rooflines

Single-story ranch homes have more gutter than people expect. A long front roofline, a garage, a back patio cover and a couple of short side runs can add up to 150 feet or more on an ordinary house. On original sectional gutters, that's fifteen or more seams, each one sealed decades ago. Because the roofs are low and simple, these homes are some of the easiest to convert to seamless: the runs are long and straight, nobody has to work off a tall ladder, and most jobs wrap up in a day. Undersized 2x3-inch downspouts usually get upgraded to 3x4-inch at the same time, and we check the fascia along the eaves, since low roofs take more splash and sun. Seamless aluminum also comes in colors that match the trim most of these homes already have, so there's nothing to paint. Many of the ranch homes in Santa Rosa built in the same era call for the same upgrade, and it's a job we do over and over in the southern half of the county.

Flat Lots, Clay Soil and the Creeks

Rohnert Park is flat, and Copeland, Hinebaugh and Crane creeks run through town in straightened channels rather than across open slopes. Water that leaves a downspout here has nowhere to go unless you send it somewhere. On clay soil, a downspout that drains onto the lawn next to the house can leave the ground soggy for days after a storm, and side yards between houses often turn into a narrow strip of standing water. We fix that by extending downspouts well out from the wall, pointing them toward the street or a low corner of the yard, or connecting them to an existing drain line or curb outlet. Splash blocks help on small runs. If a buried downspout line or a gutter outlet is already failing, a gutter repair visit can clear or replace it before we tie anything new into it. Getting the water moving is usually a few hours of work, and it's often the cheapest fix on the whole house.
